    MREA film screening of The Price of Sand is TONIGHT!

    The next film MREA will be showing in its eco-themed documentary series is The Price of Sand. The film is a primer of sorts that tells the story of the real price of frack-sand mining. The very fine silica sand found abundantly in Wisconsin is essential in mining for natural gas and tar-sands-oil using a technique known as hydraulic fracturing, or fracking.

    MREA Office Hours This Week

    With the Thanksgiving holiday upon us, everyone's busy, including those of us at the MREA. Our offices will be closed on the following days:

    The MREA is now a non-profit partner of 1% for the Planet, an alliance of over 1,380 member companies in 43 countries that give one percent of revenues to environmental causes.

    We're eligible to receive donations from 1% member companies, placing us among a diverse, global network of environmental organizations. 1% member businesses fuel this non-profit network through their annual contributions, which totaled over $22 million in 2010. Partnership with 1% greatly expands the potential pool of funding to which MREA can look to for support.

     

    22nd Annual Energy Fair Leaves Crowds Energized

    We are happy to report the 22nd Annual Energy Fair was a great success. We couldn't have The People's Energy Fair without "the people," and during the weekend, 18,602 people came to learn and share about renewable energy and sustainable living. Thank you to everyone who attended and made The Energy Fair the world class event that it is. Come learn about the basics of renewable energy systems and see how the technology can work for you! The three-hour seminars include handouts, lecture, and a question and answer period.
