W 401.01 Wind System Repair and Maintenance

Course Description

Participants in this course will perform a full inspection and maintenance on a 10 kW Bergey wind turbine to ensure continued proper operation. Additionally, a 5/8" steel cable will be installed as part of a limited fall arrest system for ascending and descending the tower. Particpants will also learn the basics of fall protection and climbing safety.

W 101 Introduction to Wind Systems and W 307 Introduction to Tower Climbing and Safety

Required Materials:

  • Pen or pencil
  • Paper
  • Calculator
  • Safety glasses
  • Work clothes
  • Work boots (not tennis shoes)
  • Grippy gloves that fit well
  • Wrenches and socket set (bring it if you have it - not required)
  • Climbing gear (bring it if you have it - not required)
  • Lunch
