W 201.02 Wind Site Assessor Training

Course Description

Participants in this four-day course will learn how to perform a site assessment for a small wind system. The course will cover how to evaluate a site’s wind energy potential, determine wind speeds at proposed heights, profile a client’s energy needs, determine appropriate tower heights and types, and estimate kWh output for a system based upon wind resource.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Approximate the load to be met with wind energy
  • Identify and recommend system placement options
  • Recommend appropriate tower heights and types
  • Quantify the wind resource at recommended hub heights
  • Size a wind system to meet a home or business owner’s electric energy goals
  • Provide equipment vendor information
  • Provide a general cost estimate
  • Know what to include in a wind site assessment report

  • 32.0 classroom training hours toward NABCEP Small Wind Installer Certification
