W 309.01 Tilt-Up Tower Training

Course Description

This hands-on course will demonstrate how to properly and safely construct, raise, and lower a wind system tilt-up tower (TUT). Proper site choice and accurate foundation, layout, and construction will be discussed and practiced in the field using a TUT with screw-in anchors. Participants will learn the science and mechanics of tall TUTs and will discuss best practices that can help avert disaster.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify a proper site for a tilt-up tower
  • Identify an accurate foundation for a tilt-up tower
  • Layout a tilt-up tower
  • Demonstrate the construction of a tilt-up tower
  • Demonstrate the proper and safe raising and lowering of a tilt-up tower
