PV 409.01 PV Math

Course Description

This course will focus on code compliant calculations required for PV system design. Using a combination of lecture and classroom activities, the course will review all pertinent mathematics, although much of the focus will be directed by participants in order to address their areas of concern. Recommended for understanding the math portions of the NABCEP PV Installer Certification Exam.

Required Materials

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Use Trigonometric Functions for Shading Calculations and Tilt Leg Sizing
  • Compute Structural Load Calculations and Allowable Withdrawal Loads of Fasteners
  • Address Electrical Code issues such as Voltage Drop, Maximum System Voltage/Amperage & Conductor and Conduit Sizing
  • Determine the Bussbar limitations in Gridtied Systems with Loadside Connections
  • Use Temperature Coefficients in System Design
  • Estimate System Production/Efficiency
  • Size PV Systems based on Electrical Loads and Resources available
