PV 407.01 Battery Based PV Systems Online

Course Description

PV systems that employ batteries require significant design considerations. Whether using batteries with a bimodal or stand-alone system, battery selection and sizing is challenging. This online course will provide a comprehensive overview of the issues surrounding the use of batteries for PV applications.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Define the current battery types and their uses
  • Present the designs for PV systems with batteries
  • Explain the methods for balancing the components of a PV system with batteries
  • Identify the proper use for each battery type
  • Define the proper protocols for maintaining batteries and extending their lives

Recognized CECs for Licensed Professionals:

  • 7.0 continuing education credits for NABCEP PV Installer Certification
  • 7.5 credit hours for WI Commercial Electrical Inspector Certification
  • 7.5 credit hours for WI Journeyman and Master Electrician Certification
  • 7.5 credit hours for WI UDC - Electrical Inspector Certification

This course includes weekly scheduled, live webinars in which the instructor presents the course materials. Webinar attendance is recorded and tracked throughout the duration of the course.

Course materials are available on the MREA online course website within the scheduled course start and end dates. Participants will not receive a Letter of Completion or applicable continuing education credits/hours unless all webinars are fully attended, and all assignments and quizzes are completed by the course end date to the instructor’s satisfaction. The MREA cannot give partial credit for this course.

  1. PV 101 and PV 202/205
  2. or PV 701 
  3. or equivalent
  4. or NABCEP PV Entry Level or Installer Certification
