Syllabus: (PV 620) Fire Code Regulations for PV Systems

Course Description
Solar photovoltaic (PV) systems present a variety of new safety challenges in their design, installation, operation and maintenance. Because the industry is evolving so rapidly, new building and fire codes can be confusing to implement, even for experienced PV professionals. This makes inspecting PV such systems for safety and code compliance more challenging for inspectors and AHJs. This course is focused on providing essential PV safety information to inspectors, AHJs, and PV system designers and installers.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Understand the fire safety issues involved with PV systems
- Review the development history of Codes related to PV systems
- Determine which Codes apply to different PV system installations
- Discuss the most common Code violations found in PV systems and how they can be mitigated
- Develop efficient and effective procedures for inspecting PV systems
