The KidWind Challenge is a hands-on design celebration engaging students through the lens of wind and solar energy. Student teams design and build small-scale wind turbines and solar structures at home or at school. In previous years, events were held across the country where students would bring their final projects to measure energy output and present in front of expert judges. This year, students will have the chance to submit power output scores through an online challenge portal, present in front of judges via Zoom, and have opportunities for career exploration and instant challenges.
Student teams can now sign up for this year’s online KidWind Challenge, which will be held virtually on Saturday, March 6, 2021. Teams can register through this Google form through February 5, 2021.
Limited Renewable Energy Education Kits are available for Wisconsin Teachers who’d like to bring a team of students to the Challenge, but don’t have the means to purchase gear. Please contact for more information.
