One of the first questions home/business owners ask is, “how much does it cost to install solar?” This class will teach you how to answer that question for your clients by providing real world tools that you can use to process the data. Navigating varying utility rate systems, regional incentive programs, and customer financing options can be a complicated process, we want to help you provide the best information possible.
PV Sales and Finance

Required Courses
This eight-hour course addresses the basics of solar electricity. Participants will learn how photovoltaic (PV) systems work, compare and contrast different PV system types, identify necessary system components, and understand the best applications for (and limitations of) each system type. Other discussion topics include energy efficiency strategies, researching a site’s solar potential, and where to find information about PV costs and incentive programs.
This eight-hour course uses a combination of recorded presentations, resources, assignments, quizzes and live webinars to help participants develop skills relating to solar electric (PV) sales and project financing, and how to use MREA PV Finance Modeling tools.
Originally developed in 2014, this course underwent a complete rewrite in 2018. We have a new and improved offering that contains more information about PV financing in today’s market, as well as an updated version of the MREA PV Finance Model.
Not Required, But Highly Recommended:
PV 201: PV Site Assessment – this eight-hour course uses presentations, exercises, activities, and classroom discussion to demonstrate how to perform a residential PV site assessment, using a template created by the MREA.
