Hailey is one of two part-time AmeriCorps service members taking on the role of Volunteer Coordinator at MREA this year. Hailey’s philosophies regarding the global climate crisis began to materialize in early high school where she was part of a team of students and community leaders that completed a solar panel project designed to reduce the school’s absurdly high energy consumption.
In December 2019 Hailey completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology at UWSP. While studying climate policy and environmental sociology, she became very interested in climate activism and education. Hailey was ecstatic to be able to present 350 Stevens Point’s booth at the MREA’s Energy Fair 3 years in a row! Holding several officer positions in 350 Stevens Point, she worked with students, faculty, and community members to discuss and learn about the importance of reducing fossil fuels and empowering people to live more sustainably through mindful consumption practices.
Hailey loves cooking and enjoys creating robust plant-based meals. She is also a world traveler! She particularly enjoys Central and South America. Hailey lived in Bolivia during her junior year of high school through the Rotary Youth Exchange program. She hopes someday to become a member of a local Rotary chapter.
